New app leads to garden prize

Garden makeover winner Neil Adolphson and Moira Shire Mayor Gary Cleveland discuss plans for Neil’s new garden.

Moira Shire Council recently held a Garden Makeover Competition with the winners announced last month.

Cobram’s Neil Adolphson was the winner of the competition, taking out the first prize of a garden makeover, while runner-up, Melissa Few of Numurkah, won a new smartphone.

Both Mr Adolphson and Ms Few entered the competition by downloading the new ‘Waste Management in Moira’ app and taking a photo of their garden.

Moira Shire Council Mayor Gary Cleveland said Mr Adolphson had won a makeover to the value of $1000, including the use of mulch from council’s organic waste service.

‘‘Congratulations to Neil and Melissa and thank you to everyone who entered the competition,’’ Cr Cleveland said.

‘‘Our professional parks and gardens team will now work with Neil to design a garden and carry out the works.

‘‘I look forward to seeing Neil’s garden after the makeover.’’

Cr Cleveland said the free app was available to download at any time and included information about transfer station locations and opening times, reminders about collection dates and even the ability to report littering.

Another garden makeover competition will be held early this year.
