Victorian milk factories have been rewarded with gold and silver medals at the recent Sydney Royal Dairy and Produce Show.

One of the products made at Murray Goulburn Co-operative’s Cobram factory has been awarded a gold medal.

Marketed by Coles as Australian Vintage Cheddar, the line was one of a number of Murray-Goulburn and Coles brand products that were acknowledged.

Coles merchandise director Chris Nicholas said they were thrilled so many varieties of Coles brand cheese made at Cobram received accolades.

‘‘Our product developers and Devondale Murray Goulburn’s new team at Cobram work hard to ensure our cheese is great quality, and it’s great to know this teamwork has been recognised.’’

Sydney Royal Show Dairy Produce Committee chair Gary Reid said winners were selected by a judging panel of industry specialists, who benchmark the best in Australia while nurturing the growth of producers nationally.

‘‘Sydney Royal is committed to fostering a competitive space that assesses, promotes and rewards Australian produce across a large number of categories, and this year’s dairy produce show was no exception,’’ Mr Reid said.

‘‘We’ve seen companies benefit considerably from winning a Sydney Royal medal, which provides multiple marketing opportunities to leverage success both locally and internationally.’’
