Herbicides and soil on agenda

June 20, 2017

Herbicide use and its impact on soils will be studied at the next Landcare forum.

How long can herbicides remain in soil and what impact can herbicide residues have on soil health?

At the Goulburn Murray Landcare Network’s Farm Forum on Wednesday, June 28, Mick Rose from DPI NSW will discuss trends in herbicide usage, how herbicides persist in the soil and what impact they have on plant growth and soil biological processes.

The forum is at SPC KidsTown on the Peter Ross-Edwards Causeway, Shepparton, and starts at 6.30pm with a hot meal.

To wrap up the Goulburn Murray Landcare Network’s series of evening sessions, a follow-up forum dinner will be held on August 16 with a focus on ‘farming successfully in our changing climate’.

These events are free thanks to the support of Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority, with funding from the Federal Government’s National Landcare Program.
