Bill Ogden (pictured) also has a connection to the Royal Children’s Hospital after his two-year-old son was admitted there a few years ago with pneumonia.

A charity shearing day will be held on Friday to raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital.

The event, now in its third year, will be held at Bill and Val Barlow’s farm in Wanalta (19km west of Rushworth).

The fundraising initiative was born out of a local family that has seen first-hand the workings, value and importance of the Royal Children’s Hospital.

According to the organisers, the day is structured around people and businesses within the sheep industry donating their time, skills, products or services for one day of shearing, with the first two charity days raising a total of more than $16000.

Each of the seven shearing stands at the farm, known as Corydon, is available to sponsor.

■If you wish to sponsor or donate to the cause, contact Bill Barlow on 0437 506 252 or Bill Ogden on 0407 342 523.

Note: If there is rain in the days leading up to the event and/or on the day, the event may be postponed.
