The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a strong wind warning for central, northern and north east Victoria for Sunday.
Northerly winds will strengthen ahead of a cold front forecast to move across Victoria early on Sunday.
Damaging winds, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of 90-100 km/h are forecast to develop about elevated areas of the South West, Wimmera, Central, North Central and Northern Country districts during Saturday afternoon and evening.
Northerly winds with peak gusts of 90-100 km/h will then spread to all of the warning area early on Sunday morning, with peak gusts of 120 km/h affecting the Alpine peaks and nearby high country.
Winds will shift westerly behind the cold front, with the risk of damaging gusts then easing.
Locations which may be affected include Warrnambool, Bendigo, Seymour, Maryborough, Ballarat, Geelong, Melbourne, Wodonga and Wangaratta.
