Colbinabbin locals Bob West, John Avard and Frank Stewart (back) were leant a helping hand by Rochester Secondary College students Theo Carty, Nash Hocking and Rhys Holmberg.

Elmore Field Days life members Sam Ayson (left) and Ron Trewick ensure the site is measured to perfection.

Elmore local Alan Edwards and Rochester’s Ken Hocking were helped out by 10-year-old Simba during the peg out day.

Volunteers turned out in droves for the annual peg-out day at Elmore Events Centre in preparation for Elmore Field Days in October.

Armed with measuring tapes, pegs and hammers, 70 volunteers, including students from Rochester Secondary College, mapped out exhibitor sites for the event.

Public relations officer John Giffin said the Elmore Field Days event committee was expecting a great crowd this year, helped along by the show falling in the school holidays for the first time since 2013.

‘‘It’s great to see everyone coming out and helping to lend a hand and help out the community,’’ Mr Giffin said.

‘‘We have more than 700 exhibitors coming to the field days which is slightly up on last year.

‘‘The site filled up quickly and we have a big wait list so there’s sure to be something for everyone.’’

The field days will include agriculture displays, in-paddock demonstrations, children’s entertainment and hundreds of other exhibitions.

■Elmore Field Days will run from October 3 to 5 from 8.30am to 5.30pm each day.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for secondary students, with children under 12 free.
