Northern Victorian irrigation outlook

by
September 19, 2017

Recent inflows have led to a promising irrigation outlook.

The Goulburn and Loddon systems should achieve 100 per cent allocation by February next year, even under dry conditions.

The Northern Resource manager, Mark Bailey has issued forecasts of high reliability shares based on current system holdings, historical patterns and forecast weather conditions.

Under the estimates the Goulburn and Loddon systems should achieve 100 per cent by February. If weather conditions are average then 100 per cent could be achieved by mid December.

The Goulburn system currently has 71 per cent of high reliability water share allocated.

For the Broken system the outlook is to achieve 100 per cent by mid October, if weather conditions are average or wet.

Major storages have been continuing to increase recently and wetter catchments have been producing more useful flows.
