Phone alerting system donated

By Benalla Ensign

The Benalla Leo Club has become a sponsor of Benalla SES by donating a mobile phone alerting system to give the unit greater information including mapping and communication between members.

The system allows for planning of tasks and responding member numbers in a time-critical manner.

SES unit duty officer Graham Milner said the mobile phone alerting system had been used several times recently.

‘‘It is a great aid to the unit duty officers,’’ Mr Milner said.

After hearing of the alerting application the Leo Club members decided to sponsor the Benalla Unit to obtain the system.

‘‘SES is such a vital service to our community that we just had to take action,’’ Benalla Leos incoming president Keeley Marshall said.

‘‘It’s so wonderful to see young people contributing to the community,’’ SES Unit Controller Colin Croxford said.

‘‘We are very grateful for their help.’’

Benalla Leo Club also donated several Lions Teddies to be used in cases of young children being involved in trauma situations.

Benalla Leo Club is a young division of Benalla Lions Club and works to improve the local community through fundraising and volunteering.

Members aged between 12 and 25 are welcomed to attend fortnightly meetings on Tuesday evenings.
