Kyabram dairy company Kyvalley Dairy Group was awarded two awards, including top award Business of the Year, at last Wednesday night’s 2017 GMCU Allianz Campaspe Murray Business Awards at Moama Bowling Club.
The Kyabram company took out the agribusiness category before being named Business of the Year.
Company director Wayne Mulcahy said he was still getting his head around the victory.
‘‘We’re still processing it. I’m gobsmacked by the whole thing,’’ Mr Mulcahy said.
The 2017 awards night marked the first time Kyvalley Dairy Group had been nominated in 20 editions of the event, which is held every two years.
‘‘Somebody nominated us — we still are not sure who. We were asked if we wanted to put an application in and we did,’’ Mr Mulcahy said.
Campaspe Shire Mayor Adrian Weston said the awards acknowledged and celebrated local businesses that were the best in their field, with this year’s awards attracting more than 120 applications across 12 categories.
‘‘The winners and finalists represent the highest calibre of businesses in the Campaspe and Murray River shires, all committed to providing the best services, products and customer experiences for our community,’’ Cr Weston said.
As part of the judging, winning businesses went through a rigorous process including assessment of their application form information, a site visit and interview.
Mr Mulcahy said everyone was a winner on the night.
‘‘We’re all like-minded as we provide the best products and service for our customers,’’ he said.
‘‘It was a great environment on the night.’’
