Agriculture Victoria encourages Victorian women to apply for the 2018 AgriFutures TM Rural Women’s Award before applications close this Sunday 29 October.
The award has been running for two decades, supporting Australian women to use and develop their skills to benefit their industries and communities. It can help women to secure funding for innovative ideas and projects, and open doors to professional development and alumni networks.
Johanna Christensen from Agriculture Victoria says this is an opportunity for women who have a vision, want to make a difference and wish to improve the prosperity of rural and regional Victoria to put their voice forward.
“Regional, rural and remote communities are all unique – but they all share amazing stories and examples of women doing incredible things.
“It is important to think of this as an award to do something, not as an award for something you have already done. If you have an idea, initiative or project that you want to bring to life, then this is your opportunity to make it happen!”
The Victorian finalists will be celebrated at a ceremony in March 2018, with each state and territory winner to receive a bursary of $10,000 to implement their project vision and participate in the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course.
The Victorian Government sponsors this award, and also supports regional women with initiatives such as the Rural Women’s Network, the Invisible Farmer Project and measures to support greater female representation on Victorian Government boards.
