Show looks to stack up well

November 01, 2017

The Dookie Show will return again this year with the 134th edition to be held on Saturday, November 4.

Changes to this year’s show include an overhaul of the horse program with a new section added as well as the return of the rural ambassador awards.

The first-ever drum stack competition will happen in the afternoon, in which competitors will carry and stack 20litre drums in an effort to make the highest stack without it falling over.

The animal nursery and sideshow alley will return again, and other highlights will include the vintage steam engine display and seminars on photography and stock handling.

For children, there will be gumboot tossing, noughts and crosses, the egg-and-spoon race and tug of war, while the pavilions will be filled with entries for the equestrian, cattle, sheep, poultry, wool, crops, flowers, artwork, cooking and needlework competitions.

Admission prices are $10 for adults, children (6-16 years) and pensioners $5.

â– The Dookie Show will be held on Saturday, November 4 with sheds opening at noon when judging is complete.
