Redeyes rally late

Blighty’s undefeated streak in A grade rolled into game number eight, putting away a feisty Jerilderie by 12 goals at Blighty Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

After the Redeyes got a 20-5 jump at the first break the improving Demons remained in the contest, closing the gap to five goals by three quarter time in the Picola & District League round nine clash.

But a fantastic performance by Abby Wilson in the final quarter saw Blighty keep their unbeaten streak alive.

Incredibly, only two of the Redeyes’ eight wins have come by more than 12 goals, a testament to the side’s new found grit and determination to get across the line in close games.

Final score, Blighty 63 Jerilderie 51.

Blighty’s B grade struggled against the Demons, going down by 24 goals.

The Redeyes defenders had a challenging task against very accurate shooters, and couldn’t contain them in the end.

Final score, Jerilderie 61 to Blighty 37.

Blighty’s C grade were edged out by four goals against Jerilderie.

The first half saw the Redeyes take many intercepts, showing strong leads but the home side couldn’t quite get over the line.

Final score, Jerilderie 38 to Blighty 34.

Blighty’s C reserve put on a shooting display to claim a big win.

Final score, Blighty 42 Jerilderie 9.

Blighty’s Under 17s had solid game after a week off, but a strong third quarter by the Dees steered the visitors to victory.

Final score, Jerilderie 30 to Blighty 20.

The U13 Redeyes performed beautifully in a close victory over the Demons.

Blighty’s shooters worked well together in the ring with the defenders making a lot of intercepts.

Final score, Blighty 14 Jerilderie 11.

The U11 Redeyes started strongly and continued to improve throughout the game.
