Despite wet weather predictions a good field competed in a stableford event at Rochester Golf Club on Saturday.
Consistent member Bruce Bryant took the prize with his 35 points while the runner-up trophy went down to the final hole.
Graham Willis chipped in to score 32 points edging out Richard Feuk and Ap Kuiper each with 31.
These three had engaged in close competition all day.
Other good performers on the day were Ian Clark and Lachie Wilson.
Willis also took the nearest to the pin on the 16th hole.
This Saturday sees one of the most entertaining events of the season with the fourball stableford multiplier.
The assembly is 12 noon with the draw for partners at 12.15.

All members are reminded of the forthcoming club championships which begin on July 14 and run for three consecutive weeks.
With so many players in form each of the grades promises exciting contests.
The regional tournaments continue to be well patronised by Rochester members and with Bamawm’s event this week we look forward to another strong representation.
It’s been club championship week at Lockington, with the final rounds played on Wednesday for the ladies and Saturday for the men.
Despite starting the day two shots behind, Annette Brereton captured her 22nd Club Champion title, with a solid final round of 88.
Her rounds of 90-94-88=272 gave her a nine shot margin over Sherryl Jones (281).
The nett title was a closer finish, with Sherryl Jones (235) hanging on to beat Sue Harris (239) by four shots, to win consecutive nett titles.
Kathy Connors (99-97-109=305) comfortably won the B grade title from Phyll Macfarlane (321).
With three consistent rounds of golf (75-72-79=226), Phyll won the B grade nett title, with Marg Eade runner-up.
The battle for the Annie Stewart Perpetual Putting Champion title proved to be a close finish.
With an excellent final round of only 24 putts, Sue Harris (29-30-24=83) won the title by just one from Annette Brereton (84).
Next was Sherryl Jones (85), followed by Kathy Connors (89) and Phyll Macfarlane (89).

On Saturday, Grant Humbert won his 20th Club Champion title, with a final round of 76.
His scores of 66-72-76=214 saw him finish just five shots clear of the fast-finishing Brett Stone (70-77-72=219), with Kevin Humbert (239) in 3rd place.
For Grant to win 20 titles by the age of 40 is a remarkable achievement.
The A grade nett title was clearly won by Kevin Humbert (62-62-70=214) with three terrific rounds of golf.
Runner-up again was Brett Stone (202), with Gary Milligan (204) in 3rd place.
The race for the B Grade threatened to be a close finish, but Stuart Newton (86-84-86) was simply too consistent for his rivals and won by 5 shots from Jeff Carnie and Barry Graham who tied for 2nd on 261.
Despite starting the day 6 shots behind in the battle for the B Grade nett title, Barry Graham finished with a brilliant final round of 65 to finish with 66-72-65=203 and storm to a 4 shot win from Mark Lyons (207), with Jeff Carnie (208) in 3rd.
Will Hardess has been the form golfer all season, having sliced a massive 9 shots off his handicap. He scored a richly deserved C Grade victory with 3 great rounds of 87-86-90=263. Runner up was the gallant Des Pentreath (268), ahead of Tom Scurrah (274).
The C Grade nett title went down to the wire. With 2 holes to play, Des Pentreath led Tom Scurrah by just one shot, but double-bogeys on the 17th and 18th to Des, saw a 2-shot swing and victory to Tom Scurrah (202) by just one shot, with Jayden Wright (222) in 3rd place.
Kevin Humbert capped off a good day by winning the Veterans Trophy by 8 shots from Tom Scurrah (202), with Des Pentreath and Barry Graham tied for 3rd on 203.

On the Queens Birthday Public Holiday, Lockington golfers travelled to Rochester to compete for the Cec Parsons Memorial Shield. The Shield returned to Rochester after they scored a comprehensive victory, (533 - 484). Best players for Locky were Brett Stone, Rob Hardess and Phyll Macfarlane.

A hardy group of men and two women took to the course today to play in a stableford event.
Scores were very mixed with the winner Jeff Carnie, a fine score of 39 points.

The king of Wednesday countbacks Captain Richard Feuk once again showed his canny ability to win on 25 stableford points from Robert Vise, Laurie Radley & Bruce Bryant were next best on 24, Vise & Tim Quinlan won nearest the pin on 12 & 16 respectively.
A bbq lunch will follow this Wednesday’s 4 ball multiplier over 9 holes, assembly at 9am.
Rochester hosted the first round of the Goulburn Murray Golf Association singles pennant on Sunday.
Rochester took on Mooroopna emerging victorious 4/1.
Captain Richard Feuk won 3/2, Bruce Bryant won 5/4, Brad Major won 4/2 and Jake Wright won 6/5. Lachlan Wilson was the unlucky loser missing out on the final hole.
Valley View won over Rich River 3/2 while Shepparton defeated Numurkah on forfeit.
Rochester travels to Shepparton this Sunday to take on Valley View in a top-of-the-table clash.
Thursday 14th June was the first day of our annual tournament.
A good field of ladies played the 4BBB recording some good scores.
