First school lesson

By The McIvor Times

HOLY Rosary School has begun taking children in for the seventh year of its Flying Start Program.

As part of the Flying Start Program, kindergarten kids come into the school every fortnight on a Friday morning to get a taste of what it’s like at big school.

It is an initiative Holy Rosary has been running with for a while now, preparing the next generation of students for their step up.

Last week the Holy Rosary hosted the first session of 2018, and the children will attend the school every fortnight for the remainder of the year.

“It is a joy to see such bright and bubbly faces who enjoy being at school,” said Mr Paul Dullard, school principal.

“This year’s Grade 6 students are a product of our very first group of Flying Start kids and it has proven very successful in transitioning our future foundation children into school life for the following year.”

The Flying Start Kids who attended last Friday were presented with an ‘I’m a Flying Start Kid’ t-shirts.

These were developed by Ms Slatyer the Foundation teacher and her daughter Annika.

The kids loved them and they looked very smart.
