Birchip Cropping Group members are invited to the group’s annual Trials Review Day with results from a number of trials to be discussed.
The Friday, February 16 event will feature a number of presentations including crop variety updates on wheat, barley, canola and pulses including the release of results from the Grains Research and Development Corporation-funded project focused on managing early sown wheat.
Agriculture Victoria’s assistant director of plant programs Chris Williams will discuss weeds including chemical registrations, residue level setting and good agricultural practice.
There will also be an update on reducing the seed bank of brome grass and controlling rye-grass using a shielded sprayer.
Other topics include agronomic issues, effective grazing crop mixtures, crop nutrition such as the run-off of nutrients in crop stubbles and looking at the crop tolerance of lentils to herbicide mixtures.
CSIRO researcher Steve Henry will share his knowledge on best management practice for mice control coming into the 2018 season.
The BCG Trials Review Day is a members-only event.
