Visitors welcome

Santa Gertrudis bulls will be front and centre at Dingee stud Lincoln Park in Beef Week.

Owner Jacinta Taylor and her husband Barry have been involved in Beef Week for a number of years and, after a couple of years’ break, are happy to be back for 2018.

Mrs Taylor said there would be plenty for visitors to see at the stud.

‘‘We’re doing the (Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria) Heifer Challenge and will also have on display our young bulls that are for private sale,’’ she said.

The stud has 60 stud bulls that have been joined with more than 100 cows this year and Mrs Taylor said they try to focus on three main areas.

‘‘We try to promote temperament, growth rates and muscling,’’ she said.

Originally developed in Texas, the breed has been well regarded in the areas of crossbreeding, weight for age, food conversion efficiency and daily weight gain.

Mrs Taylor said Beef Week was a great opportunity to welcome visitors onto the farm to share the breed with them and gain more exposure for the stud.

Lincoln Park can be found at Hockings Rd, Dingee and will be open for visitors on Wednesday, January 31.
