Rochester bank to close

February 07, 2018

Rochester’s ANZ branch has become the fourth northern Victorian bank to be closed within nine months, after it was announced it will close on April 24.

An ANZ spokesperson said customers have changed the way they bank in recent years, with more opting to use online option and ATMs rather than visiting branches.

‘‘Of our customers who have Rochester as their home branch, only 21 per cent of them currently use the branch with nearly 57 per cent of them preferring internet or mobile banking,’’ a spokesperson said in a statement.

An ANZ branch in Mooroopna, a NAB branch in Murchison, and a Commonwealth Bank branch in Boort were all closed last year.

The New South Wales town of Berrigan had its NAB branch closed last year.
